I'm an Alien! How cool is that?

Well, thus concludes the final General Conference that I will be able to watch as a missionary. Boy I remember the very first one of my mission. And thinking "man....3 more of these..." Crazy stuff. Hey did anyone see David Archuleta at the end of the sat. Afternoon session in the choir? The camera zoomed in on him singing Praise to the Man at the very end of the song. One of the members here looked up his blog and found out he's going to South America, Spanish speaking. So in a few weeks, some guy's going to email his parents "Guess who is in my mission?!" And everyone in the church will know exactly what mission in South America he's in.

So I don't know about you but I thought General Conference was great. Elder Holland's talk was fantastic, so was Elder Uchtdorf's, "Stop It". Good stuff. I really liked Elder Christofferson's talk on Sunday morning about revelation and basically defending the Church from those who would say we can't have that any more. I love the "defending the church" talks. The explosion in the print shop. That made me chuckle. Of course, if God was the one who set up the explosion and monitored each phase of it then I'm sure an explosion in a print shop could produce a dictionary. Only if God was in charge though. Take that Stephen Hawkings.

Well this week wasn't bad, spent a lot of time waiting in lines so I can get my license taken care of. Had to wait at the DMV, and the the Social Security Administration, and then had to go to pueblo for the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements office and wait there for a while. Isn't it neat to think that I'm an Alien? I'm quite proud of that. So now we wait to get a letter from homeland security saying I'm entitled to entitlements. Yay! And then this whole mess will be over.

In terms of the gospel this week, not a ton happened in our area. We did watch conference with an investigator on Saturday, and a returning less active on Sunday, which was very good. Many good things were said, and I loved Elder Hollands, "It's getting late..amen" It was truly an "epic" way to end a talk. We are hoping that investigator really starts to progress even more, and we're looking forward to good things to come. We also ate lunch yesterday with that family who is going to the other church, and they are all great. They had other friends over and it was cool answering their questions about missions and missionaries and just really getting to know them. Hopefully the husband has still been reading the Book of Mormon as I have still been reading the new testament and loving every minute of it. Now something cool about that. As I've been reading the new testament (I'm up to Acts 7) It's amazing to see how the Pharisees and people don't recognize that Jesus is the Christ. I mean, it seems pretty obvious to us now, but for whatever reason, the people did not realize that he was the Savior. I mean, he was working miracles, he was a perfect man, and nothing could beat him. Yet, they still do silly things like plot the death of Lazarus after he was raised from the dead...Um...hello? did you miss that? A guy just got raised from the dead. And it's really strengthened my own testimony of the Restoration as I've seen the word games that the anti-mormons use are exactly the same as the one's the pharisee's used, and the other people. It really struck me this week that either Jesus was the Christ, or a tool of the devil. Obviously he was the Christ. In the same way, Joseph Smith was either a true prophet, or a false prophet. A false prophet's fruits would lead people away from salvation. A true prophet would lead them towards it. Now examine the fruit of Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon. I challenge anyone to find something in the Book of Mormon designed to lead men away from Christ. Again, it seems pretty obvious, but just like back in the time of Christ, as Paul and the others proselyted they probably ran into a lot of people, "no we're not interested, we're Jewish". Now we get "No we're not interested. We're Christian" It's exactly a parallel. Not that we aren't destroying Christianity, we are simply bringing it all back. Not that Christ was destroying Judaism, he was fulfilling it and bringing even more. Anywho, I know and love this church, and I would also challenge anyone who watched President Monson to find something he said that would make him a false prophet. It's amazing how as a Christian you can't just say our church is "good". It's either run by a false prophet or a true prophet. There is no middle ground on this one.

Anywho, Love you all!

Elder Gibb
