Alright, so we had a fantastic week down here in Good ol' Parker Colorado. Partly because we had a baptism. And partly because we got another good investigator. And had some funny things happen.
First, thanks for the package I got this week! It had a lot of great stuff in it and some food, and my EFY CD's and the SEMINARY SOUNDTRACKS! Oh man I love those things. And it was funny because my companion got a package at the same time so we could celebrate together. And as a side note, his package had some grassy stuff in it that we thought was candy, so we were eating it for a while and then we realized it was packaging material. So we stopped eating it. We think it was some corn based thing. Hopefully it wasn't poisoned, but I haven't gotten sick yet so I think I'm good.
We also almost got hit by a car. Saturday night, we were biking across an intersection, and it was all good, we were doing everything right, and then I'm biking along thinking "hey, wouldn't it be funny if some car suddenly ran the red light and hit us?" Well as soon as I finish thinking that, we hear this VRRRRRR and some car is turning left at the intersection right into us. Well the guy stopped and we kept going but we think he was texting. It was scary.
So we had a baptism this week. Brittany got baptized and it was great, super spiritual and her parents were there and it was only 30 minutes long! We kept it moving at a good pace. I did the missionary moment, and I was pretty scared but I did a good job with it. Elder Summers baptized and did a good job, and it was great! Then the next day I had to do the confirmation and so I was pretty nervous. And it didn't help that in the earlier ward I got a nosebleed during the sacrament, and during gospel principles. That's the most nosebleeds I've ever gotten in one day, and it was really embarassing because I had to get up and walk out of the chapel during the sacrament with blood pouring out of my nose. Interestingly enough, my only thought during that first one was "oh man I better not get any of this on my tie". See, I was wearing my ocean blue Jerry Garcia, which is a nice tie. I did not want blood on it. But we survived. My greatest fear was that I would get a third one during the confirmation and make a pretty big mess. So there was that, and that fact that I was doing a priesthood blessing in front of 200 people. I was so nervous I accidently put my hand on the shoulder of the deacon that was holding the microphone. Luckily the bishop corrected me. Then Elder Summers afterwards told me that he could feel my heart pounding through my shoulder. But I think I did a good job.
This week we had an appointment with someone we've been trying to teach for a while. Well we had to do an exchange, so I was with a missionary that's been out 4 months, and so this was my first teaching appointment as senior companion. I was nervous but we did a good job, and she really felt the spirit during the First Vision. She shared a very sacred experience she'd had when she was younger and then told us that she felt exactly the same during that experience as she did the First Vision! It was really cool and we gave her a date for the 8th but she missed church on sunday so that will get pushed back. Still, it was a great miracle!
And have fun in the election this week.
