New Record!

Well, transfers have come and gone, and the verdict is that I'm still staying in the Clarke Farms, Stonegate, and Dove Valley wards with Elder Summers, so this is officially the longest time I've spent in an area. 3 transfers. This next transfer is good because it has:
a) a few baptisms lined up
b) Mothers Day
c) May the 4th
d) The Second Coming, May 12, 2011. (Remember that park bench in my first area? We've got it marked on our calendars.)

So it's going to be a good one.

Well we had General Conference the other day, which is a missionaries favorite time because you get a weekend off....sort of. But it was really cool, and I was able to receive some important revelation for some of our investigators, and that will be good to try out. I don't know if I had a favorite talk, I loved Elder Uchtdorfs priesthood session talk about "living below our privileges". That was a call to repentance for sure, and there's a lot of things I need to start working on so I can live up to my privileges as a servant of the Lord. Elder Bednars talk was a fantastic one, especially for the youth of the Church. It discusses receiving revelation which is an important topic. I thought it was humorous, all the references in Priesthood session and others to the young male adults of the Church to get married. All the missionaries were laughing about that, because, well, we're kind of exempt from that council at this time. I'll be sure to apply it in 17 months, but as much as I would like to date and such, I'm slightly restricted in that. The talk on Pain was fantastic for one of our investigators who watched the Sat AM session with us. It was truly inspired messages that were amazing and timely. One thing I really got our of Elder Nelson's talk when he was talking about persecution and stuff, is that bad stuff is going to start coming, so we better get ready for it. And the Fort Collins Temple! That's cool because we can get lots of referrals out of the open house, and send our investigators through to go check it out. Although that will probably take place after I go home. I was a little shocked at the Winnipeg temple. I didn't know anybody lived in Winnipeg. And "The Spirit of God" solo at the end of Sunday Morning was incredible. So powerful! I'm also excited for the "Day of Service" that President Eyring announced. So that's my take on conference this year.

We had a good week down in Parker. April 16 we will be having a baptism for sure, with 2 of our investigators, so that is something cool to look forward too!

We also taught our eternal investigator family, and they wouldn't accept a baptismal date unfortunately. But they all acknowledged that they felt the spirit when they read the Book of Mormon and heard the first vision. We just ran out of time and couldn't resolve their concern. But we have an appointment this week where we'll teach the Stop Smoking program and help to take away any barriers preventing baptism.

We had a great miracle this week. It was probably one of the most profound on my mission. I won't include it in this e-mail, you can ask my parents about it, but we were able to pick up a new investigator this week, and we've taught him twice already and he watched 2 sessions of General conference with us, and 2 without. He can't be baptized in April due to some extenuating circumstances over which we have no control, but he'll definitely get baptized soon. It was truly so awesome that I can't even describe it. But he's great!

For April Fools day, some other Elders tried to prank us, but they ended up getting themselves. Haha. That's what happens.

Other than that, pretty good week. Talk to ya'll later!

Elder Gibb
