Blood in the Water

Alright so had a spectacular week down here in Parker Colorado. We were kind of bummed because it was spring break, and so we knew that there would be lots of stupid teenagers saying stupid things as they drove by, and all of our investigators went out of town, but we still managed to have some funny things happen. And some cool things.

First off, had probably one of the craziest things happen off tracting. We were out in the country, and we knocked on this door and this lady answered and was like "well, I'm a Jehovah's Witness, so if you want to come in and talk about the bible, we can do that." So me and my companion were all like "Sure, why not?". So we walk in the house, and as we are walking in we can hear some voices down the hall. We come into the living room, and lo and behold, 5 Jehovah's Witnesses are sitting in the living room, having their equivalent of a District Meeting. And their Elder was there. So me and my companion look at each other, and I'm thinking "It's A Trap!" but we sat down and started chatting with them. It was pretty cool, talked about how they do their missionary work, and they have their own version of Preach My Gospel, and it was pretty cool. We chatted for like an hour, and they would occasionally throw something out at us that they knew we didn't agree with, but we just kind of smiled and changed the subject. That was the last arena I wanted to get in a bash in. A 5 on 2 Battle Royale. It was pretty sweet though, just initially it was scary. We got a whole bunch of Watchtowers out of it.

And yes, the teenagers were out in full force this week. I think we got an "I love you" although we might have heard wrong. We also got a large drink cup thrown at us from a moving vehicle. That was kind of funny, I saw my companion ducking and then I ducked down and it went right over our head.

We also had a great baptism this week. Hanna, the girl we found off tracting got baptized, and we got a call during the week where she asked me to do it. So that was a really neat experience, getting to baptize someone. I was really nervous though, and so I don't think I got to fully appreciate what was going on at the time, but it was a great experience. She had a lot of non-member family there as well. The story behind this, we found them while tracting, and then halfway through teaching, they moved to the Zone Leaders area to Hanna's grandparents house. So we were kind of bummed to have to hand them off the another set of Elders. BUT then their first Sunday at church, Hanna's non-member grandpa decided to come. He had a great time and responded that he was "hooked" and felt like he was "coming home to family". That wouldn't have happened if we'd continued teaching her. So something that we were pretty sad about, ended up turning into a huge miracle! It just goes to show that God doesn't always work the way WE want him too, but sometimes we got to look at the bigger picture.

Something funny that happened at the baptism, was when I reached down to pull the plug to drain the font, the chain it was on cut my fingers pretty bad. But I didn't notice until I was getting changed afterwards, I noticed that I was getting blood all over my shirt and tie. So it took me a while to get changed and then we headed to the first aid thing in the building to get some bandaids for my fingers. So basically I took like 10 minutes to get changed, and the first councillor made fun of me when I finally got back, about the fact that I got beat by a 10 year old girl. So I was pretty embarassed but then apparently it came up during their ward council and now they have committed to fix the chain. I felt vindicated.

And we noticed that there were these green peices of paper in our foyer that said "LDS Passover: For Judah and Joseph" and were some sort of invitation to a dinner. We noticed them a couple weeks ago, and then our bishop in priesthood stood up and said that they weren't sponsored by the church, they were from another faith that had been put in our building and he was trying to track down and destroy all of them. And apparently the website on the peices of paper had the 13th article of faith, but it was like "we believe in the Qu'ran and Hezbollah..." etc. So I don't know what the heck was with that, but I'm convinced it was a trap. The Kool-Aid was probably poisoned. But it's just weird, like, we wouldn't do that to another church, so why do they do that to us?

Well, that's all for now. Looking forward to General Conference next week! It's going to be so awesome! And it's so crazy it feels like just yesterday I watched my last one. I've only got 2 left!!! Ahhh!!! And also transfers are next week, so we'll see what happens. I know something's changing, but I don't know what. It's going to be crazy, so you can look forward to that!

Keep it real!
