So we had a pretty crazy week down here, some good stories, some weird stories, and some interesting stuff that happened. So I'll tell ya about it.
So right off the bat, we found a new investigator this week. So we had gone by this guy a while ago, a member referral. Talks to his member friend about the gospel every day at work. So we went by and gave our spiel and he said he wasn't interested, he could talk to his member friend if he had any questions and kind of sent us away. But we persisted and tried to find a service opportunity and turns out he needed some help moving sticks so this Saturday we went by and helped him out. At the end we were talking and trying to get an appointment to teach, and he mentioned that every morning he sees the kids across the road come out of their seminary classes (works across from a Church building) and sees how they act and interact and says "I want my grandkids to be like that. And if I have to be mormon to make that happen, so be it". So that was pretty awesome and it's clear that he's been prepared and so hopefully next Saturday if all goes according to plan we will have someone who is preparing to be baptized.
Another cool thing was going on exchanges with the Falcon elders. So they were having some conflicts in their companionship, so I had to take on the role of marriage counselor and try to figure out what was going on and I offered my advice and different things that could help. Well the next day one of the Elders got super sick, so I went out with his new missionary companion to go get some stuff done. Well this awesome new missionary was like "let's go see this family". Someone who had come to church like 5 weeks ago saying she wanted to come back, but every time they went by, and they had gone by like 10 times, nobody was home. So we go by this time and BOOM the wife is home and she's like "oh, you found me" and I guess they had a family member living with them who was way anti so they really didn't want to have contact with us at the moment but now the anti person is gone so they are ready to go, she mentioned "we stopped going to church and felt the spirit leave. So obviously we need to come back" and her two kids want to get baptized so it was an awesome thing to see for their area.
Also, our new neighbor at the house we live at is a retired MLB player. Played for the Braves, the Mets, the Phillies, Cubs. He's pretty cool, we might do some service for him. That would be cool. His name is Turk Wendell, he's got a wikipedia page.
Also this week, we got to help an old folks home take a trip through a wildlife refuge out in Calhan. We had to push the wheelchairs, and the ground was all mulch so it was pretty tough to push through, it got a little sketchy at times. So I guess this facility rescues animals that are too big to use in magic tricks in vegas, or have been in movies, or people tried to keep them as pets but they got too big. So they had tons of tigers, lions, baby bears etc. They had the leopard that's famous for biting off the finger that was then placed in chili to try to sue Wendy's. They also had the lion from the movie Secondhand Lions but he was chilling inside and didn't come out. They also had a Liger. I didn't ask, but I got the impression that it wasn't bred for its skills in magic. It gets really big though. I also got to pet a Wallaby. Check out the picture, I'm making a weird face for some reason.
And finally, at a dinner appointment this week, we were talking to the member and they mentioned the hispanic guy that does their garden had lived in Salt Lake for a while. Well he came in after dinner and we started talking to him and invited him to church. The member mentioned that his 12 yr old son would be speaking. So this guy brought his whole family and a friend to church. 5 non-members at church! It was pretty sweet. The topic was Family History. He said next time they'd stay for all 3 hours.
Love you!
Oh ya! Transfer Predictions:
