So this week has been super crazy, Satan is working overtime to try and discourage us because we have been seeing so much success. This week was the first time I had people shouting the F word at us while they were driving past. Twice in one day! And it's annoying because you can't shout "I love you" back at them because they are going so fast. And the local large non-denominational Christian church has started up its anti-mormon classes again. probably because one of the ward splits that occurred recently got in the paper, and when the saw it they grew scared that we were baptizing the whole city. So tracting is probably going to start getting interesting again. Hey, someone told me I was going to hell this week, which hasn't happened in a while.
Right now, we had 9 non-members at church yesterday, but only counted 6 of them as investigators, so it was a really good day. We also have 4 people with baptismal dates. 2 for March, 2 for April. Except one in march is kind of not ours. See, the Zone Leaders got a referral to teach this guy in our area, and apparently the guy that gave them the referrall told them he wanted leadership to teach his friend, so they are teaching but we count the baptism and investigator as our stat. And we are doing everything we can to make him feel welcome, and at home. So it's really cool, the sisters baptized someone in the Clarke Farms ward on Friday (awesome baptism. So spiritual!) and this guy will be in march, so the 1 week old Clarke Farms ward is already doing what it needs to do!
So we taught one of our Eternal Investigators this week. When I was thinking and praying hard in the morning to know what to teach him, I thought of Ether 12:6. I noted it down, and thought of a bunch of questions I might need to ask. Well during the lesson, We were able to answer a lot of his concerns with the questions we'd brainstormed in the morning. And then at one point I looked at my companion, and he shared Ether 12:6, just as we'd discussed in the morning. It was one of the smoothest, most unified lessons ever. We convinced him to pray about March 20th as a baptismal date, and the next day at church he said he wasn't willing to move forward with it but we will still keep working at it. We've made a LOT of headway with this guy. So we are going to keep praying and rely on Personal Inspiration to tell us what we need to do next. Kids, If I can give you one suggestion for mission preparation, it's learn to listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Learn how to recieve personal revelation. I could go on with tips, and I'm still learning so much, but it's amazing to see how much i've learned in 6 months. At the beginning of my mission, I felt like it was some unreachable thing. Something I'd never figure out. But it's possible, and a necessary life skill. Read Chapter 4 in Preach my Gospel. Helps out a bunch. Switch off your targeting computer, and use the spirit.
Something more funny that happened this week, we were visiting a potential, and we walked around the corner, and clothed in it's robes of celestial glory sat a DeLorean. I quickly whipped out my camera to snap a quick picture to remember the historical event, and as I did so, my camera died. I suppose it's only fair, we aren't supposed to take pictures while proselyting...but a DeLorean? I think that's the exception. That and a plane crash. But it was a tender mercy.
Another funny thing. Our wards did a big food drive for the food bank inside the local non-denominational christian church. They were really tense about it, and really not happy to be letting us do it, but they did anyways. But someone had to deliver the food and that someone was us. Our Stake Public affairs person needed some help and so we volunteered. We wanted to get a look inside so badly. The last missionaries to go there were never heard from again. Naw, but they went to church in their missionary clothes and the preacher saw them and changed it to an anti mormon sermon. So we've been hesitant to go there. And we don't want to offend anyone, I mean it's built right into the 11th article of faith. So our PA person told us to dress in our muggle clothes, and take off the name tags. So we complied and it was good! Nice building, looked a bit like a shopping mall, but still, the people there are all good people. But we only got inside for a couple of seconds and then we were done. Still though, it was like when Indiana Jones goes to Berlin to get the diary back. As we drove up, I quoted Sean Connery's "Into the hornetsh nesht" We were scared but in our covert clothes, we managed to remain undedected. Mission Accomplished.
Well, i think that's all until next week. I gotta go, but have a good week. Love you all!
