And a happy thanksgiving to you, and you, and you, and also you. Yep we can now begin to get ready for Christmas. In a few weeks I anticipate some caroling, and some good Christmas cheer. But thanksgiving was good, it was weird having a half p-day to do shopping and stuff, and then a full p-day on Thursday but not a bad deal. A good chance to relax. Hey this is kind of lame, we just got an email saying that Elder Richard G. Scott is going to a stake conference up in Colorado Springs and has requested that all the missionaries an hour and a half away come for a meeting before. So basically every zone except the Valley and Kansas. So I don't get to go. Oh well. All I do is embarrass myself in front of General Authorities anyways.
Can I tell you of a wonderful text message we received on Wednesday, the day before thanksgiving. A text from the zone leaders. Bringing the most joyous news that we had been granted permission to watch ONE PG or G movie on Thanksgiving, and as long as nobody messed it up, Christmas as well. So it's time to play a game! Which movie did Elder Gibb watch for Thanksgiving?
a) Tron
b) Justin Bieber: Never Say Never
c) Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope
d) Didn't watch a movie
If you picked b....Wow are you kidding? Haha no but seriously I couldn't pass up the chance and of course I watched Star Wars. Just think, Thursday afternoon, what were you doing? I was watching Star Wars. And it was awesome. Elder Park had never seen it so of course I had to teach him the ways. He seemed to like it and was shocked when I told him it came out in 1977. Our compromise was, if we are still together for Christmas (transfers are Dec. 13) we'll watch Home Alone, because I guess that's a tradition for him to watch on Christmas. But if we aren't together, then I'm going to shoot for Empire Strikes Back. It didn't bug or distract me too much, right after it was over I was like aw...but then just went right back to work and that was that. I can't wait for 2015 when it will come out in 3D, I've seen a poster for the Phantom Menace 3D and I'll miss that one, but that's alright. As long as I don't miss the original Trilogy.
And that's enough worldly influence for this letter. Our lesson with Steve went awesome last week. No date yet, but he's challenged to pray about the 10th and we're following up tonight. It was an amazing lesson, like people showed up right when they needed too, and experiences were shared by the members that were just perfect. He missed church because he wasn't feeling well which is a valid thing. He tried to make the 11 am but he still wasn't feeling good. So we have a great lesson planned for tonight and all is looking good. As well, Chris randomly texted us on Thanksgiving. Remember we kind of dropped him with the attitude of "He can call/text us" because he wasn't responding to anything. Well ya, he wished us a happy thanksgiving, told us it had been a rough few weeks but the Book of Mormon helps a lot! Man! Good stuff for sure! We have another appointment set up for Thursday at 11 so really hoping and praying he makes it. And with Tony we went to his church in La Sauses for a real catholic mass. It was pretty good, alright sermon, but the weird thing was they had gotten all new books and prayer pamphlets and stuff and changed a bunch of things. So Tony was all confused the whole time and nobody else knew what they were doing. The priest was nice to us though and seemed happy to see us. Then he came to our church, and ya. It's not looking too good for him. He sounds like he doesn't really want to come to church anymore and we don't know what's been going on but he's on 3 Nephi and loving it so we have to figure it out. But he's kind of been shifted to the back burners a bit. So that was pretty much all missionary stuff that went on.
We went to a missionaries open house before she leaves on her mission, and there was going to be a ton of non-members there (lots of non-member family) so we went and visited people a lot. But it was really funny, Elder Park went to get some of the juice, and I was a few meters away from him not looking, and then everyone started yelling "Elder NO" and ya, I guess there was tea inside the pitcher he was about to drink from and so everyone was laughing. It was pretty funny. Mostly just because he's Elder Park and everything he does is funny.
Well. Yeppers. I don't know too much to add. Next week is the old "Transfer Prediction Email" so you can gear up for that.
I suppose that's all! Love you!
