Texting is like riding a bike!

Hey y'all, things have been going pretty sweet down here. Crazy thing happened this week: WE GOT NEW PHONES WITH UNLIMITED TEXTING! They are Sprint phones, a Remarq or something like that. But it's been pretty awesome, I haven't texted anyone for 10 months, but it came back to me pretty quick. It's like riding a bike. But it's been cool, one of our investigators works from literally 6 am to 10 pm so it's hard to contact him, and calling him before wasn't too good because he couldn't talk much at work. But texting is something he can do! So we've been able to get daily contact with him. And it's nice to quickly share miracles with other Elders in the district, or do quick plans for things that calling is a waste of time for. Believe me, it has been fun. I can't even imagine how they did missionary work without cellphones.

Things have been pretty good this week. I used my ninja agility to place a signal booster on the roof of our house because there is no Sprint in the valley. So we bum off AT&T or something like that. My companion videotaped it because he thought I was going to fall, but alas my parkour skills are much better than that. I had a big dog slobber all over my leg and get snot all over my leg, so I used some leaves to try and wipe it off but that was pretty gross. I also heard my first Weezer song since coming out. We were talking to this guy on the street, and suddenly this truck drove past blasting "Say it Aint So" and that pretty much ruined me in that contact. I was all like "no Satan, get thee hence" in my mind but to no avail.

We've been having a lot of success this week in Teach when you Find, Find when you Teach (Chap 9 Preach My Gospel) We've found 3 or 4 potentials this week just from doing that and trying to get return appointments with people. It's worked pretty well. And this week our Bishop of one of our wards felt inspired to invite a Part Member we haven't got a chance to meet yet to be baptized. He is going to follow up next week and see what the guy says, but it sounds like he's seriously considering it, so that was a great miracle. Our most solid investigator has had a really hard time getting time off work to come on Sunday. But we're meeting with him Wed and Thurs and he's looking forward to it, so hopefully everything will sort itself out. Another thing we've found this week in just talking to people on the street, is how many people here got offended and stopped coming to church. There's a lot of history in Sanford, and a lot of "my great-great-great-great grandpa didn't like your great^4 grandpa so we are going to not get along". It's like Romeo and Juliet sometimes, or it feels like that. People say things to us like "I don't get along with lots of people because of my last name" or "I got beaten up as a kid so I don't go anymore". So we're trying to repair those things but it's been pretty tough.

But I will say things are looking up. I've been continuing reading in 3 Nephi, and man, I'm starting to just love it. How much more I've come to know Jesus Christ from reading those chapters. I remember when I finished Jesus The Christ, I really felt like I knew him, but 3 Nephi has built so much on that. Just his personality, what he says. It's so much easier to have faith in someone you know, and it's so much easier to love something you know. So that has been a really beneficial thing to be reading during my time in Sanford. It has been a trial, but it's getting better. I'm coming to understand the Doctrine of Christ a lot more. I was in 3 Nephi 27 this morning and if you want to know what the purpose of life is, it's all right there. So it's good things. Me and my companion do a lot of readings on following the spirit in Preach my Gospel, and when we do a first vision role play, we try to think of a concern that our companion resolves. So it's been good practice. But that's a lot of what goes down in Sanford.

President Pfile loses his keys tomorrow as soon as the new president steps off the airplane. I wonder if there will be an earthquake or something that all the missionaries will feel. That would be cool. Also, what kind of car did the Apostles drive? A Honda. they assembled with one Accord. hehehe. That's a knee slapper. Well, gots to go shopping and stuff. Still haven't gotten a chance to go to the Indiana Jones house. I guess you get to wear a fedora and leather jacket and carry a whip, but I don't know if they are real props used in the movie or not. That would be amazing. But ya, catch ya'll later.
